Moonambel Muster Queen’s Birthday Weekend 2018

This year’s Moonambel Muster held over the Queen’s birthday weekend on the Moonambel Reserve was again a huge success. We had some of our members arrive on Thursday to begin the setting up of the event. There is much to do, with setting up the registration tent, putting together all the marques, unloading all the raffle prises and erecting all the banners. The weather was changeable, but it didn’t deter anyone from having a great fun filled weekend.

We had 68 assorted 4×4 vehicles registered this year and approx 180 people from the Geelong 4WD Club and 4 other invited 4WD clubs. There were numerous day trips that went out into the beautiful Pyrenees each day of
the event and a couple of night runs as well. The trips ranged from easy right through to hard. Luckily this year most vehicles escaped any major damage with only a couple receiving panel damage.

The jumping castle again proved popular with the children and adults alike. The spud van from Geelong country baked potatoes arrived on Saturday to feed us with delicious spuds and fillings. We thank them for their hard work feeding us all. Close to 200 spuds were sold.

Saturday night we had a very talented musician, Ryan, who entertained us with his great voice and fabulous guitar playing. He was definitely a hit. Several people got up and danced the grass throughout the night while others socialised around the blazing camp fires that kept the chills away.

Sunday morning began with our traditional pancake brekky. Thankyou to those members who got up early to prepare this feast for everyone. On Sunday night our monster raffle was drawn. Over 700 tickets were sold. There were
some absolutely amazing prizes on offer this year. Congratulations to all the prize winners!

This event is months in the planning. From doing all the invites, securing the venue, contacting all our sponsors who generously donate towards our raffle each year. Recce runs done prior to the event to clear tracks and mark out possible trip routes and making sure the event is safe and fun for everyone.

On behalf of the Geelong 4WDClub thank you to the following.
• Everyone who came and supported the event
• Massive thankyou to all our sponsors for their generous donations to our raffle
• All those who worked tirelessly throughout the weekend, from set up, to checking in all the vehicles, cooking breakfast and packing up.
• Country Baked Potatoes
• Our brilliant Musician

We look forward to another successful Muster next year.
